Time management

Updated: Mar 22, 2022

Time is the coupling of choices and actions that lead to a consequence. It is a gift that can be both a blessing or a curse. Time is the essence of life. The journey that all creation is on, is of the passage of time. Each individual has a set time, to achieve their purpose or goals. Award-winning author, Stephen R. Covey said, “Time management is really a misnomer, the challenge is not to manage time, but to manage ourselves.” It’s not the lack of ability to achieve one’s goal that deters an individual from achieving greatness, but procrastination, lack of determination, and focus. Time management is a technique that is acquired over time by establishing a routine, good organizational skills, and good habits. Time management is in itself a paradox, as it also implies life management. Without proper management of one’s time, life goals are easily never achieved. Many get started and get lost along the way. Many ideas and plans have been brought forth but were never executed. The enemy of time is fear, procrastination, doubt, and lack of perseverance. Write down the plan on paper, set milestones, and as you endeavor to attain them have someone you trust that you are accountable to. Most of the time, the most intelligently planned schedule is the most difficult to execute. It is never a wastage of time, but all good things take time to bear fruit. Even in failure, the time has been well spent learning and growing one’s abilities. History teaches us a lot about the present and helps us understand the trajectory of the future. Knowledge is a vital tool that aids in proper time management.

Time is the only capital that every human being is born with and can never be taken away, but it can be misused. Time doesn’t catch up to us, but it is always around us. It is the key to the future and the mirror in which we see the past. On every occasion, with time, endeavor to be a better version of yourself than you were yesterday. You never know the time the man in the mirror will be called upon for a greater purpose than the one currently imagined. No life is without cause, for in time it has served a purpose.
