The subject of meditation is one the most abandoned in the kingdom today yet it’s very important. Meditation has been left for Buddhists, monks,Hindu, etc. And it’s so clear that they benefit from it much more than the children of God, who have the full right over the tool of meditation given by God to see and change things. WHAT IS MEDITATION? Meditation is the changer of mindset and creator of the future. The mind is a powerhouse of every single thing a MAN knows, feels, and judges. The first time I drank beer back in the days, it was bitter and disgusting. I asked myself why people drink it again and again and enjoy it! I got used to it and the taste of the beer did not change but my mindset about it changed, I didn’t see it as bitter anymore so my tastebuds readjusted. This example shows how much you can change things through the setting of your mind. Meditation is the tool to set your mind in the direction you want and that will influence both your actions and your perception of things. Look at what God told Joshua: “This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth; but you shall meditate therein day and night, that you mayest observe to do accordingly to all that is written therein: for then you shall make your ways prosperous, and then you shall have good success.” (Joshua 1:8) HOW DOES MEDITATION WORK? Meditation in Christendom has been seen as a demonic practice because of the lack of knowledge and teaching on it. Here is a disclaimer: Meditation is not demonic, it is a practice made by God to create attention and awareness on the subject. It becomes demonic when joined with a familiar spirit(demon). When reading Joshua 1:8 you will notice that God said “meditate therein...”, meditation is not reading, it is getting into the imaginary, into the world of what is being read or the thought passing through your mind; it is diving into the heart of the subject to dissect it. This is the secret to overcoming addictions, bad habits, fear, pressure, you name them. Whatever one wants to change in their daily life can be achieved through the power of meditation because meditation follows the principle God gave to Abraham: “As far as your eyes can see, so you’ll gate.” (Genesis 13:14-15 NLT) HOW TO: I'm going to give you a few ways to meditate based on my experience. The more you practice the more you will expand on it.
1. Creating attention: As I said earlier God made meditation to create attention and awareness. You create attention by focusing on an object, therefore, you need to focus your mind on what you want to meditate on. Don’t worry if your mind wavers from time to time. The only thing you should do is to get back to the subject once you find yourself wavering. (Tip: start with focusing on a sound). 2. Being aware: Focusing on the subject is only the first step. It is creating awareness about the subject which is the game-changer in meditation because that’s the place where emotional and mental sync happens. This is when all the components of the subject come alive. You begin to see the ingredient than the end product, the benefits, and consequences and that expands more and more as long as you are still there. Start with things that you know about, then go to things you would like to change in your life. Meditate on what you would like to see happen not on what you don’t want to see. The emotional and mental connection that will occur during meditation is the game-changer. Don’t mind if for the first time you can’t focus for more than 2-5 minutes. The more you practice the longer it becomes; meditation is not in the length of time but the sync of emotions and the mental state.
