Literature review: Your story is different

The first time I learnt about a literature review was back at university studying Electrical Engineering. As a group of 4 students, we were tasked with a project for our graduation. This experience made me realize how we can connect some aspects of the process of preparing a thesis that is similar to life.

The literature review is a brief study of what others have done in the particular field you are making your research on. This will involve giving references to the information that you have mentioned in your literature review. It's important to take note that the purpose of the project is not to produce the same findings but rather to do something new. Likewise in our lives, we spend time doing a literature review and looking for references. These references may be people who have done "so well" in life and this causes us to aspire to attain such success. It's important to note that they are just a reference point, you have your own story.

Our literature review also encompasses our peers who are doing quite well and yes it's good to get inspired but understand your story. No one except professionals in that field can look at a building's foundation and give remarks about how elegant the huge hole they have dug is. Everyone always applauds when the building has been raised and its exterior beauty is revealed. The most important aspect holds that beauty is less appreciated. That is how it is. People haven't seen what you have done therefore they can deduce why there may be less financial growth currently.

While it's very important to apply some of the literature reviews, understand that this is your story. What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, what no thought has conceived are the things set in motion for you. You are different and your story is different.

Remain steadfast, they will come and ask to be like you but little do they know it's impossible, they can only be themselves. When they show up remember to advise them of their story. They have their own story to tell.
