The sharp pain pierced through his fragile heart for he was always at the receiving end of his daughter’s disrespectfulness. He always wondered WHY. His heart would yearn for his daughter’s love yet it was never fulfilled. There were times when he would just weep silently praying to God to restore what was lost between them, he knew that the divorce hit Lily so hard and she couldn’t stop reminding him of how he drove her mother to the grave.
After the divorce, Lily’s mum drank so much that she lost her life in a fatal accident and since then Lily started to despise her father. Although she was old enough to see the abuse that was going on in her household before the divorce, she decided to blame her father for everything in spite of everything he did for her for he didn’t want her to be in that environment as he feared it would destroy her emotionally. If it happens that they cross each other’s path, they would stare at each other, but the love of a father wouldn’t just let him pass his daughter without saying anything, no matter how many times he greeted, he would be ignored. He knew that time heals everything, he could feel it in him that one day he will be able to hug his daughter, laugh around her, do her hair and that was the reason why he couldn’t give up on her no matter how many times his heart got shattered.
One day he felt so weak emotionally that he decided to stay in bed. Lily wandered around the yard, she wanted so bad to check on her dad but too much pride hindered her. Even though she thought she hated her dad, was she ready to lose her remaining parent? Was she ready to face life alone? Was her hatred real? Or she just wanted someone to take the blame for her family’s situation because sometimes some people heal easily if they have an escape-goat. She decided to knock and check on her father, and the moment she entered the room she became so emotional, she didn’t even know what to say or do when she saw how weak her dad looked. Her mind started to run wild with all kinds of questions, she couldn’t even look at her dad, that negative attitude that she always displayed vanished immediately. Nothing in this world beats a father’s love, the minute he saw the tears rolling on his daughters cheeks he knew all his prayers were answered, he knew that he got his daughter back. He felt a huge relief, that bleeding heart had dried up.
Yes, time heals everything but what matters in life is a father’s love, from generation to generation the love of a father is always pure, and most of us realize how valuable it is the moment we lose it. We tend to yearn for it yet when we had it we wasted time on unnecessary things forgetting that nothing stays forever in this world. Let’s embrace our fathers’ love for it is precious!
